The Coordinating Center serves as the administrative, communications and data storage hub for all of MESA. Our work encompasses many tasks, including:

• Providing overall leadership and management for the study
• Storing participant data with a focus on security and confidentiality
• Distributing datasets to interested researchers
• Managing communications and collaborations between all study sites and entities
• Analyzing data and writing papers that are published in medical journals
• Developing clinical exam protocols and making sure sites follow them
• Managing surveillance of participants’ clinical health events
• Reporting study progress to funders
• Overseeing the work of ancillary studies
• Ensuring publications meet standards for scientific integrity and rigor
• Managing communications with participants, including the participant website and newsletter
